Default Anyone use Goo Gone to remove Adheasive-Stone Guards

Couldnt find 3m at Home Deposit but will Goo Gone do the trick?

Drivers side stone guard came off like a hot knife through butter. The passenger side, like a semi-dull knife in a steak. Both came off pretty quick but a little adheasive left on the passengers side.

Try the 3M adhesive remover in the spray can. I got it at Walm art and it did a good job.

Goo Gone is repackaged Xylene. I used it successfully for stone guard adhesive removal. Do a little section first if you have doubts. Xylene is avaialble from Home Depot or Lowes and much << expensive.

I just did mine. Used a bunch of different products. I don't think any worked better than the other. What you need is heat and patients. good luck

Goo Gone works, so does the other brand with a similar name. Also used the adhesive remover in a spray can. Worked o.k., but I liked Goo Gone better. I let it sit on the stuff for about 30 seconds which softened it up alot. I would not let it sit on there too long though.

Goo Gone worked great!

I had to use a heat gun, cautiously, on passengers side. Parts of the underlaying adheasive were stuck and I heated it up, sprayed Goo Gone, and used an old shirt to get it off. Repeated several times. I dumped some soapy water and rinsed a few times through the process. Probably took me 30 minutes total.

I have my M030, HD's, sways, and 60k this week and after thats done, I do an external wax and then put the stone guards on.

For the little DIY I do, it was an easy project. Heat gun made all the difference in the world!

95 C$: GooGone is one of the great products that has myriad uses - one of which is damage-free adhesive removal. For really sticky stuff, let it set for awhile. BTW, other great products: ShoeGoo for a great silcon based adhesive; and SpotShot for carpets. Of course, IMHO.
