Royal Purple Redux (Tranny Fluid)
Good morning folks,
I thought I'd report back now that my Tranny has been flushed with Royal Purple. After a couple of cold starts I'm very pleased to report that my transmission feels brand-new. 1st-2nd has been restored to a reasonable throw effort with absolutely no grinding or resistance. The only significant downside that I can report is that the transmission is a bit louder, but then again, I also have the RS single mass flywheel. My previous fill was Mobile 1.
Now all of this said, I suspect that what Callas used in my car was not precisely the same thing that everyone else has tried. Total charge for the Oil was ~$75, and Mike reports that he usually only uses this for heavy-duty track applications, but that he's had good luck using it in higher-mileage transmissions where shift effort is high when cold. I have to say that I agree. So perhaps there is a new formulation out there for Royal Purple or maybe it is simply a "higher-grade" of the brand, but I'm very happy.
cheers,
sean

It would be nice to know exactly which RP product you have. You may have seen my post in the past where I indicated that the RP tranny fluid caused a lot of grinding in my gearbox, so I changed it out almost immediately since it just didn't work. (try a search on "cement mixer" LOL)
