Why?, they can run more power and torque w/ more precise control of individual wheel speeds through the chassis w/ the taller tires.
Doesn't that go counter to higher rpms = more samples/time = more precision in traction control and ABS systems?

I remember Ford or one of the major WRC teams was actually gearing up an input shaft to an electronic diff to get more data and quicker reaction.

It really is frigging amazing how high our 993's sit stock. It's funny really. Blue Ocean - great looking car btw - can't wait to see it lowered!

Those Carrera IIIs look great, I saw a 997 C$S the other day with the 19" Carrera Classics, those would look sweet on a 993, if only they made it in an 18!

Bill, thanks for all your help. I would have these if it wasn't for you!

the o/s by the valves says 8.57 and 10.58.
That's what is confusing me. Inside the front wheels is stamped ET 37

The fronts are likely ET57, but to verify ..... measure the right angle distance between the mounting flange face to a straight edge across the back face of the wheel: subtract from this both the width of the rim lip ( nominal 12mm) - and 1/2 the wheel width. This will give the ET ..... ET being displacement from the centerline of the wheel.

They are 8 & 10 w/ ET57 & 58 respectively

they look great and the car will look great too when lowered, not too much though, the rear has a tad to much o/s to go to the low limits

if you use a 7mm spacer in front you will have stock front 993 8" o/s, unfortunately the back can't profitably be changed

So why the heck does it say ET 37 on the back

Just scored some H&R 7mm spacers from RallyJon

pictures are often helpfull, 1 of the back of each spoke w/ info on it
If the 10 had an ET37 it would stick out further than pictured.

I love this time of the year when people realize their cars ~need~ to be lowered AND start a modding....!!!

It's looking good so far.

It's interesting and a little counter-intuitive but the 18s sometimes seem smaller in the wheel well because the tires don't bulge out from the rims. i.e.: on my car: Stock 17" Cup II w stock size Michelin PS rib seemed to filll the wheel well very well compared to the new hollow spoke 18"s with wider 265r/225f PS2. However it's an optical illusion cuz the tape measure has the 18" combo displacing more space. Tire just seems to fade away a bit on the 18"s...which is why many upgrade the size despite the effective overgearing. In this case it appears you have the 997 five spoke which have less radical offset compared to the -02 five spoke (ie: they stick out more). So measure carefully before lowering and don't increase diameter unless you don't care about accellerating slower!

There's nothing wrong with being high as long as it's not suspension were talking about.....lol...... but I can say it looks so much better......how do you like the way it handles now as opposed to the SUV suspension?
