Default 993 El Paso TX to Alameda CA in one day

Just recovering from my xcountry drive after buying my Porsche in Atlanta and driving cross country. Left El Paso at 7:00 a.m. and arrived home in Alameda at midnight on my last leg. Stopped only for fuel and left I - 10 at Blythe to cut up to Needles on I - 40. This was some careful fast driving on highway 93 through the desert.

The car performed flawlessly except the fog lights or defroster set off the ABS warning light.

Having a V1 helped avoid tickets, but did get pulled over in Texas and asked if I was carrying large sums of cash.........

The El Paso to Bay Area leg is over 1200 miles in 19 hours.

Other long 993 drives?

Back when I was poorer (and more foolish?), I drove from Albequerque to Palo Alto in one stretch. I was in a '73 Datsun 510. It was August and I had no A/C. You know how to stop a car from overheating in Death Valley at 2:00 pm? Turn on the heater...gasp...
But, I still like road trips, and it sounds like you just had a memorable one too. Congratulations on your maiden voyage. I wish you many more 993 adventures.

I picked up a beautiful 1986 944 turbo in Tempe, AZ and drove to Clearwater, FL in 32 hours straight. Stopped only for fuel and fast food. It was 2200 miles from door to door. I had been waiting for over 2 years to buy my 951, and I was so excited I didn't feel like stopping! That was by far my biggest road adventure yet, especially considering I usually get very bored/sleepy on long trips.

Longest in the 993 - I bought it in Connecticut just north of NYC, and drove all the way to Orlando in one day. That was also a pretty long trip, don't recall the exact time or distance though.

Great memories
