I've had my '95 for 17 months. The car had a new RS Clutch and LWF when I bought it. I noticed early on that when driving at night the car would die on occasion when downshifting or rolling to a stop. I assumed that I was stalling the car because of the LWF and worked on smoothing out my shifting. This seemed to improve things and when I did the kinematic lever update it became less frequent.
As the car simply would die, with the lights going out and the steering becoming very hard, I am starting to think that this could be an electrical problem and not me stalling the car.
Does the car dying with the lights going out sound like a defective DME or an intermittent ground? Any other suggestions?
When this happens the car will usually start right up. Only once about a year ago did it refuse to start. Then after a few moments it was fine.
I have a spare DME in my glove box which I will change today. Any thoughts?
DME and ground strap are both cheap things to replace. It sounds like total a loss of electrical power for a short period, so the ground strap gets my vote.
