Question problems with alarm system

Since weekend I got my 993 1997 Cab back to the roads. However, since then my alarm system always gets on which isn’t quite helpful for the relationship with the neighbors. Even today in the morning during a quick stop at the grocery store the alarm got on. Any idea??? Could it be that I have may some electrical contact problems? I read that the ground strip from the battery could be a weak point.

Thanks for your feedback in advance.

Check that the interiorlight is working.
Alarms ar mostly using same switch for detecting opening door(s).
Usually connected to ground when door is opened.

How does it come on? Specifically i.e. after what actions?

I normal park the car. Then after 10 minuts or may after 4 hours the alarm goes on. I have no idea why. What I do now is I don't look the car and set the alarm. I just relay on the imobilizer.

I seem to remember that there's aprocedure where you can lock the car without arming the alarm. IIRC, it involves closing (not locking) the drivers side door, opening the passenger side door and pressing the interior lock switch, and then just shutting the passenger door. I have no clue where I got this info. Possibly it was RNA implanted when I was abducted by aliens.

Interesting.

Did you do a search? When I was wondering about my immob., I searched and saw many posts on crazy alarm issues.

Sounds like the sensors are triggering for no reason. Did you check the ground strap? At your mileage it shoudl be OK BUT you never know.

Not sure about cars with drive-block immobilizers but it works on 94/95 993s

FWIW my car was doing the same thing last fall. Very inconvenient.
I re-read the manual and (so far) this spring following this procedure it has been fine.
I lock the steering column and lock the glovebox. Watch as the locking mechanism is triggered by the LED on the door. Make sure it switches to the one blink every 2-3 second mode.
If you have a cab or a Targa you can disable the IR security at the interior light to troubleshoot whether that is the problem. The manual explains how to do that.
In the 993 Companion (Adrian's book) there is a section on alarm trouble codes that you can read also. It explains all of the sites on the car that the alarm monitors.
Hope that helps.
I may not be out of the woods yet. I will watch this thread

Here an update. I checked the car at the dealership so that they will read out the error code. Well it turned out that the sensor in the glove box is missing. The alarm system is searching for this sensor but can’t find it.

For couple of month I upgraded the in dash radio including an iPod adapter. The shop just tock the cable for the iPod through the slot for this sensor. I guess I’ll have a serious discussion with the shop. Now I hope when the sensor will be back my alarm will work fine.

was this problem ever resolved? i have had my car without that light inserted in the glove box for about 2-3 weeks now. This morning my alarm went off. I have a 95 and that and just put a new DME relay in yesterday were my only changes.
