CV joint repack
After reading the thread called " What needs to be replaced after 10 years", I was in the shop for some other work, and ask the locally respected proprietor if he thought I should repack my CV joints. He said yes, so I told him to go ahead and do it. I asked him about some other maintenance issues and he said he didn't think I should worry about them at this time. Sounds honest enough. My question; he charged me 6.5 hours at $89. per, for a total of $578. to do the CV joints. Does this sound right to you?
Guys, I need some Rennlist lingo translation help.
IMO ?
SAI ?
Thanks

For close to $600, he should have replaced both axles with new Porsche parts and detailed the entire underside of the car
I would be going back to him for an explanation, thats RAPE right there.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I thought it seemed high. This guy is respected around here but I can't just be throwing my money away. Guess my search for the right shop will have to continue.
I also asked for an estimate for PSS9's, RS sways and drop links,95 to 96 year model rear suspension geometry update, LSD, corner balance, and 4 wheel alignment. He said $10,000. What say you guys?

Three Wheelin'
I just did all four of mine and it took me the better part of a day, but that includes going the the store twice and scraping 80,000 miles worth of road grime off most of the underside of the car while lying on my back (no lift). I should also mention, that this was my first time doing this. The Kits were $20 each and included the boot, 2 clamps, snap ring, cap and grease. At the extremes, Autozone had cheaper (crap) kits for $15 each, and the local Stealership wanted $360 for the four OEM CV boot kits! The local independent shop quoted me 3-4 hours to do the job. It shouldn't take a competent mechanic with proper tools and a lift that long, but I think these guys always try to pad the estimate a bit and then go high if you don't question them. That's why I chose to do it myself !
