Default Im Back

Some of you guys might remember me from the Malibu runs and Santa Barbara runs. I have been in limbo for some time. I had a 88 Carrera, the switched to a 968, then bought a 997, then completly switched Marques to BMW. I have been driving a 03 M3 Cab smg for a liitle less than a year. Great Car, but I want to get into a Porsche again. I want to spend between 30K-40K, and Narrowed my Choices to 96-98 993 Coupe, or 02-03 996 Coupe.
My M3 has been a great daily commuter, but Im ready for a Porsche again. What ever I pick, a 993 or 996, It will be my daily driver. I know this topic has gone back and forth a million times. If i find a 993 with under 40K miles, I probably will not drive it every day. Its hard for the 993 to compete with the 996 in comfort.
Anyhow, my search will begin soon and I will keep you guys posted

Buy a 993 even its if not mine. Then early 996 (non turbos) have all kinds of problems. Its a good year to skip and go to a 997 but you won't find one in your price range. My 95 993 (OBD 1) 28,000 miles original owner black on black. 6 speed. OEM aerokit, sport seats, sport exhaust, ROW M030 springs Koni shocks, turbo sway bars, Litronic lights, euro lenses, Carbon fiber shifter, brake lever and doll pulls. Kenisis K-28 18" wheels, Fresh Michelins PS tires, engine belts front and rear hood struts. . California car. $40,000.

Unless you switched out from a 997 to the M3 b/c of money issues, I don't see why you would want to get into a 996 as IMHO it's a step back; a 993 on the other hand is arguably a different kind of car in many ways. That said, for a daily commuter a 996 would probably be the better choice.

Duane, I'm very much interested in your car, could you send me some pictures? Where are you located in California?

"Then early 996 (non turbos) have all kinds of problems."

Had a '99 and an '00, no issues. Great cars and a steal at current prices.
