I bought some food for lunch today that I promptly turned into some nice fat. I'll spare you the pix though.
Rennlist is just a slice of life. Some people are braggarts, some are humble, etc etc. I don't mind it because I have interaction with people I'd generally not interact with in meatspace. You can learn some interesting things talking to people who are unlike yourself. And most people are pretty nice at bottom. Who among us is without flaw?
I'm just a mid-40's dude who has a really nice car and is otherwise pretty cheap with the $. I do my own home repair and renovation, buy stuff second hand that needs work in order to save a few bucks, and basically live more cheaply than my finances would probably warrant. I grew up poor and never lost the fear of debt and whatnot, never felt good about paying others to do for me what I can do for myself. But there's no getting around the fact that a lot of people see my car and assume I'm just a rich dick. The more fools they; writing somebody off because of their possession(s) is just as stupid as writing somebody off because they have nothing. So I guess I've come full circle; I've been written off by people for having too little, and for having too much, and the people who did the scrivening just missed out on who I really am.
And here I was thinking you got a really good deal. Now I realize you're just showing off
I saved $8.89 in gas driving to Gap Kids outlet in Park City and I didnt have to leave my house to get it. So I probably got a $5 outlet clearance jacket for $8-money well spent after factoring a driving expedition to get it
I like Park City and dont mind going there. Makes for a great afternoon lunch and drive up there from SLC.
Mike what brought this up ?.....except for a thread on watches some months ago and the current off the wall thread about an old Hatteras boat, I don't remember a excessive number of threads that translated into "bragging".....
you know...i don't know really. i think maybe reading the boat thread got me thinking about it. and that thread was not bad at all. for that matter, the house pictures, watches and other cars threads aren't even bad, it just had me thinking. i am decidedly suburban at this point, and have been noticing the 'arms race' (things) where i live, and sometimes in my own circle. i'm wondering why even i do it. as pointed out earlier, i have non-porsche vehicles in the signature. i thought this was to signify an interest to talk about other things, but i rarely have talked about the family car or work helicopter.
so i guess it could be said that i want you to know i have access to these things. for the life of me, i haven't an idea why.
...for the record, i fully support OT threads that might lead to pictures of cool things. i have an interest in cool things. and my 993 hasn't been broke in a long time, so i really don't need to know how to swap out the plug wires at this time.
its what you call sharing info wih your friends and everyone in this forum including you is a friend to us
yeah, yeah- whatever mate. let's talk more about that line-up of cars you got going there. ...more specifically, why in christs name did you feel compelled to sell that e-class benz? was that in the shape of a wagon or sedan?
