You are an endless source of amazing knowledge! I checked for those holes on my 993, and noticed that in addition to two sets of holes in the strut mount in the engine bay, there are two sets of holes in the hinge arm itself. My struts really popped the lid open, more than I liked, until they calmed down after a year or so.
