WTF? This is like chasing the holy grail here. Why is it I can never find what I want. Wal-mart used to carry it but now has some bull**** brand synthetic that I can only suppose has a higher profit margin. And now AutoZone seems to have dropped it. Here in Florida we almost always have temps in the "warm" range and I have no need for a 0W or 5W.

30 weight oil is just too damned thin! Idle one of these cars on 30 weight for about 15 minutes and you'll here the lifters bleed down and make noise.

I have been told this can happen with 40 weight oil as well, although I havent witnessed it with 40 weight oil first hand.

Chris explained it nicely. The only thing that anyone really have to pay attention is the oil on this engine and the quality of it. Its the life blood and you mess up you pay as it also functions to cool the engine... On a hot climate or stop and go I would never put anything below 15-50 as the factory recommended at the time they built the 993.

Give Advance Auto or Autozone a try. One will usually come thru.

I bought mine from Park Place Porsche in Texas. It was $5.70/qt + $7 shipping for a 12-bottle box. $73.40 total.

Is anyone using 15w-50 EXTENDED PERFORMANCE? I dont think it makes too much of difference between the normal 15-50 and Extended 15-50 ??

Doesnt Porsche now recommend 0W-40 ?

Get mine at Target whenever I go. They usually only have a few (up to 6) on the shelf at one time. But they're usually a dollar or better cheaper than anyone else.

Thanks everyone. I found it at Advance Auto Parts. But I appreciate the Taget tip. I'll check there too next time. Also agree in Florida's heat anything less than a 50W is out of the question for me.

95 C4 993: Porsche may recommend 0W -40W now -- but our cars are not water cooled.

Mobil One 15W50 is not the "good stuff" anymore. They're reducing all of the important wear reducers to comply with new regulations. Check here:
