Default Raid Steering Wheel

Someone (I think on the 993 forum) asked about a Raid steering wheel on EBAY from Ramperformance. Well, a little checking on the web and I found out that they are the importer for Raid into the UK. I came up with a number and called them to verify a few things and felt comfortable enough to place an order.

I have been eying a similar wheel from FVD here in the states and I have to say that Rhonda has been more than helpful. However, *****, who I assume runs the place, had me filling out paperwork and authorizations that really started to get on my nerves. I didn’t have to jump through that many hoops to get my Top Secret security clearance. I was then told shipping was going to be north of a hundred bucks. NO THANKS.

I just got this in the mail! I paid $1037.00 SHIPPED! It came in a Raid box and even included the hub. A similar package from FVD is $1722.00, and add shipping to that.

Just a satisfied customer looking to pay it forward!

Tom

Very cool! That looks A LOT like the FVD wheels. It sounds like a screaming deal. If I hadn't already upgraded, I'd be all over it!

Here's the link

http://www.raidhp.co.uk/

I don't know if the EBAY pricing applies to other wheels. Make sure you tell them not to charge you the VAT. Saves 17.5%

Tom,
Which model wheel did you get? CF looks great, but I want full leather.

Tom, is the grip thicker than the factory Porsche wheel?

Would you mind running a measuring tape around the carbon and leather sections so we can get a feel for the grip size?

Thx!

This thing is MASSIVE! The stock wheel is about 100mm around. The Raid wheel is about 120mm at the top and maybe 130-135 at the grip. The grip is more oval than round. It feels very nice. BTW, Raid and FVD are both made by Atiwe in Germany. Same wheel.

That is the exact wheel I got a couple years ago, but with the FVD logo. You will LOVE the wheel, one of the best mods you can do to your car.

Neither the ramperformance ebay store nor the Raid website seem to have a full leather version listed. However, Gert has a full leather Daytona (including leather airbag module) listed on his website www.carnewal.com (click on "340mm Leather Steering Wheel) with custom deviated stitching listed for $1174 USD.

Gerts wheel is NOT a Daytona, although it is similar (maybe Freeway?). You will also need the hub.

I have been eyeballing this mod for awhile...i like that it is reversible back to stock... it's hard to know what to do between FVD, RUF, RAID, AJ USA, CARNEWAL, etc.... Anyone done a recent search/evaluation on this to save the rest of us time? I am most concerned with obstructing the gauges...
