Hey I have the VIN from a 95 993 coupe, and according to this site,
http://p-car.com/vin.html

the 10th letter is the year, and it says k is 1989 which would mean Q should be 1995 if i am correct, but this cars vin has an S there instead which should mean 1997 right?????

I ran a carfax on the vin and it came up as a 95 model

Since Q and S are 2 positions apart, my guess is they skipped the letter O and the letter Q, to not to confuse with the letter Zero

Gerry gets it - no letters I, O, Q or Z in any VIN.

My 96 is a TS, so SS is correct for a 95.
