Wow, courageous and nuts. Good thing he didn't pull a gun on you at the stop light. I've been in similar situations where you just don't think, you do, but nowadays, there are so many nuts on the streets, you are really putting your life/safety at risk. Kids don't try this at home.

I'm glad to hear you are safe. On the edge of my seat writing style!

Hope the Explorer occupants are alive and recovering.

Be sure to update us if the on-scene investigators come calling. Hopefully one other person got a partial plate independently, that would make it a slam dunk.

Great writing!!

Back in 96 I was just driving in the fast lane on I-805 S at approx. 75mph when I saw a Honda Accord welfare racer coming up behind me at over 100mph in the slow lane, right before he got to my position a car in the #3 lane changed lanes to exit the freeway and the Honda driver swerved to miss that car loosing control and coming across all four lanes t-boning my 911SC in the passenger door.
We both got sideways while crunching together but I nailed the throttle to try to gain control tossing him off the right side of my car and he went straight back to the right hitting the guard rail head on still doing around 80mph. The impact tore the engine out of the honda and he had to be extricated from the wreckage while I was able to keep control and bring my car to a safe stop on the shoulder.

Unfortunately it did almost 9k damage to my car and he had no insurance and actually fled the country back to the Philippines where he still probably is today. There is an outstanding warrant for his arrest and I'm still hoping for the call from CHP one day telling me he is in custody.

Thank God for uninsured motorist on my policy!.........................ZP44

Good decision.
If I was in the Explorer, I would be very grateful of your decision.

Do you have any news about the fate of the people in the car that crashed?

Hi guyz n galz,

Thanx for wading thru' my post and thanx for the +ve feedback.

Truly the whole thing is very "Twilight-Zone"-like.

Nope, don’t know what happened the occupant(s) of the Explorer. It was a nice mild-weather Saturday morning, here on Long Island, so it could’ve easily been a soccer mom with kids on their way to baseball practice. (I think that’s what got me so mad.)

No trooopers have called for 'additional information either', but it's early days yet.

Gerry,
A very gripping read! Thank you for doing what you could to haul this idiot in.
