How do I buy a car in CA and take it to WA?

Don't pay any CA sales tax. The dealer should get you a temporary permit if you are going to drive the car. If you ship the car, you can get the temporary permit in WA. With temporary permit, I think you will need to drive the car to WSP inspection station where they check the numbers. Then you drive to a license office, where they will add the use tax to the bill. The use tax is same as sales tax of the town you live in.

Last time I brought in a CA vehicle they didn't even check the nubmbers. I heard that WSP is not even doing that now. Or maybe that's just over here in NASCAR Kounty. I also don't need to get smog checks.. which... is a good thing...
