I was in Bahrain for 5 months (May~Sep) where temps averaged 112 daily, and saw numerous 993s running around the whole time and even hauling a@#(90+ MPH) in their southern highways .

If everything is working on the car, overheating is NOT an issue! The only time you will run hotter than normal is in stop and go traffic. Highway driving provides the best cooling scenario possible for air/oil cooled cars. I drove 1050 miles with mine upon pick-up and had the drive of my life.
Enjoy the search,
Mark

I purchased my 993 in Seattle, filled the tank and promptly drove it 3,200 miles back to Maryland, via Canada. Not one issue and the drive of a lifetime. Five days of pure joy.

Good point. If you're looking at getting a 993, the 993 is known to burnt up this resistor if its old...which controls the fan speed to cool down the oil radiator...

Not a common occurrence, but it does happen..

Smile Run tracks in the High Desert.....

I went with a manual over-ride switch and an Auxiliary Ruf cooler that is mounted close to the air conditioner condenser in the left front fender. The Ruf cooler costs about $1,200 or more + it takes labor to install it. Cargraphics also makes an Auxiliary oil cooler.

When it gets hot and I am waiting to go on the track, I just turn on the air conditioning and watch the oil temps drop. However, one must remember to turn the air off when going on the track...I have forgotten on several occasions. It really didn't seem to affect track performance, but it is a great excuse for going slow, one of many I use, as needed.

In post #9 of this thread I reiterated how to bypass the ballast resistor with a piece of wire so that the fan kicks into high-speed where it normally would have started on low. I asked Steve Weiner about this solution and he agreed it was a good idea, considering the difficulty of replacing the ballast resistor and the likelihood that it would fail again. Rather than just being a test of the function of the oil cooler ballast resistor, it can be used to bypass the oil cooler ballast resistor permanently.

Svaha, I like your solution.
What type of ends/fittings and what gauge of wire did you use?

Here a few pictures of the jumper solution to failed ballast resistors. The wire is 14 gauge.

The view of the relay is a little dark on my display. So it's just a simple loop of wire. With the ends through the holes in the appropriate relay posts and twisted together?
