Default Powdercoating turbo twists? .....

My rear tires are shot and my stock wheels are looking a little tired.... a few nicks and chips here and there. So i am considerings powder coating my turbo twists either a flat black or glossy black. what do you guys think?

btw, my car is black....

anyone have any pics of a black TT with oem twist wheels blacked out?
will this de-value the wheels in general?
.... is it possible to return the finish to stock in the future if i want?

thanks for any input. please post pics if you have some.

Not a big fan of the "black wheel" look, but there are a few folks here who do. When I was buying, there were a couple sets in black and I noticed that they were available for a much longer time than the stock finish and eventually sold for less, FWIW.

You can always strip and re- finish. All is costs is money.

+1 on everything jimbo said, except that blacked out wheels can look great if done properly. Here's another RLster's car that shows exactly what I mean.

Now, THAT looks alot better than all-black. I might have left more of the rim portion silver instead of just the bead portion. Kinda reminiscent of Fuchs with the black spokes and silver rims. Still not quite my taste on a 993, althought I always liked the Fuchs painted that way.

I think the black twists look great. It's actually the ONLY way that I like them but we all have our opinions. Here's a pic of a fellow rennlisters car that fits your description. I was hoping to buy this car but said rennlister was too quick!

Old pic and painted not P.C'd and no longer have them but you get the idea. BTW DO NOT PAINT, definitely powder coat, painting doesn't hold up well.

polishes the outer lip and them powder coats the remainder of the wheel, black, flat, semi-gloss or glossy, your call. Ask for the Feather Merchant's discount!

Al has done lots of wheels for me and my SoCal pals.

No connection to Al other than I like his work, and I have know him and Diane for 18 years.

Reminiscent of Fuch's...that's exactly why I like them. I do think that you have to use the techarts to get the right look though.

that was me -- sorry. The car is quite nice despite its mileage and price. In fact, it will turn over 100K the next time I drive it to work No worries, its well taken care of. Once I find the time, the PSS9's are coming off, Moton triples, RS monoballs, evo uprights, RS bards, DAS bar, LWF and RS clutch, Cobra seats, 6 point belts are going on. I might pull the heads and replace guides and do a little engine work while I am there.
Other plans include C2S split grill and TT bumper cover

Car has TT brakes, RS engine mounts and my MY02 five spokes already on it.

I have a three spoke wheel, just need an airbag.

No worries, I am quite happy with my purchase as I really wanted red and the options it came with and still kept the purchase WELL under $30k.

Besides, it sounds like your car is on "track" to run with the big dogs. What Porsche wouldn't love that?

Now, back to the black wheel issue...
