I would be careful on the S60R before going that route. When we bought my wife's S60 AWD I considered the Sport pkg. but was told it used the same Sport seats as the "Cross Country". I had been given the Cross Country as a service loaner and couldn't stand those seats, I was very uncomfortable after about 10 mi. I would get a loaner before you go that route because I suspect those seats are the same.

Of course, YMMV.

I do have to adj. my 993 seats on longer drives. It's not my DD.

Mark. Thanks for the article. I'll consider acupunture. I have clients who have acupunturists in their doctor's offices to address the more progressive patients.

I spoke to a friend who is a PMR (Physical Medicine and Rehab) Doctor at MD Anderson and a 993 owner too. We may get together to have an xray of my back to see what's up. He suggested I take a break from hockey but I haven't played in a month and the pain has come after the layoff.

I used to spend lots of money on chiropractor, even tried acupuncture 4 times. I taught her probably the fifth English word she learned - Pain!

For the past 10 years I have survived on the exercises in a $15 book:

Treat Your Own Back

The same relaxtheback store sells for about $75 a cushion that may fill in where the already good stock seats may be missing the lower back support you need. With that cushion I can go 10+ hours in my daughter's '94 Accord, or without it the same time in my 993.

Terry. Thanks for the suggestion. There is one of these stores near my neighborhood. I'll buy it and give it a try.

In reply to everyone (and probably of extra interest to you) I ended up ordering a set of these Recaros (minus the 4-point harness holes)... they're with Recaro being trimmed in CanCan leather as we speak... hopefully they'll help...

Tony. A8s are a bit ornate for my taste. I remember catwin Steve's post about Cobra Misanos.

The GT3s are the only fixed back seat I'm considering.

Great thread. I've back pain since 1988 and did chiropractic (never worked, went to 3 different guys), accupuncture (did eastern and western - nothing), physical therapy helped for a while and then it didn't, but when it was suggested that I join a gym and work out every other day, THAT worked! I hate the gym, but it helped to strengthen my back and muscles to the point that I can sit in my car for long periods now. Yeah, from time to time it still hurts, but mostly it's fine. I still wake up with pain in the morning but working out helps, even when I'm in some pain.

It's awesome, and I look better too. It's only 1 hour every other day, AND I get to see all the hot chicks at the gym. That can be fun and motivating .

Funny you should mention that too. I was talking with my friend and former boss who had some back pains from golf. He said the only thing that helped him was working out.

i just ordered a bunch of products from here if anyones interested:

best price I found online.

I recommend everyone with lower back pain read up on The McKenzie institute and buy the book, "7 steps to a pain free back"

Default There are some threads on this

I had some discomfort in my back. You can add some lumbar support behind the center panel of your seat - it might help. I keep a lumbar pillow in my seat to give some additional support. There are some people that have switched out to 996 seats - that could be another option that looks realistic.

I've had back surgery once and after a few years the problem reoccurred on the other side. Found a top notch physical therapist who used the McKenzie method and I now swear by it. Not a big fan of chiropractic and now using some of the McKenzie exercises on a regular basis at the gym has worked wonders. The book mentioned above is also based on those theories if I remember.

Everyone is different but regular strengthening of the muscles is very important.

Can't enjoy the slippery slope if your back is sore! good luck!!
