Default It's a Cessna 195 on final for Missoula, Montana

The picture a couple links back is from my 1948 Cessna 195 on final to land at Missoula, Montana. This is on a round the US flight we took on 2005.
It's great to see how many pilots there are who have the gumption to have a 993. Wonder how many motorcyclists we have, too?

I'll post the picture again since we've switched pages. Any more guesses on the airplane and where we are landing?
The Porsche Mooney was more than a few years ago and there is no longer any support from Porsche for that engine. Many have been re-engined with either the Ovation engine or the liquid cooled Voyager engine. Unfortunately many were destroyed a couple of years ago in the big hurricane that hit the ModWorks Mooney service center in Punta Gorda Florida.

As you can tell from my screen name, my Mooney is my other addication.

I was thinking 195, beautiful airplane. I would have guessed Montrose CO on the airport. Been a few years since I flew to Missoula.

Smile Another F-14 Pilot

911s have always been popular among Navy fighter guys -- I guess that is how I ended up getting one.

I remember very distinctly when I test drove the 993, the feature I most loved about the car was the fact it had a master caution light (a !) that could be defeated with a pushbutton, with annunciator lights around the dials.

That is classic military aircraft design and really sold me on the car -- is there a master caution light on any other car? The Tomcat had a master caution light directly in front of the pilot's face that needed to be depressed to be turned off.

I also chose silver over black because it reminded me of the Tomcat -- tempted to get the green leather seats because that really would have been perfectly symmetrical coloring but I couldn't do it....

Reynard38, you have my dream job! I love the sound of those JT8D's at takeoff thrust. Compared to the little vacuum-cleaner RJ engines I'm used to they are beasts.

Yeah, you gotta love the master caution light. I just hope my "new" 993 doesn't have a CADC to go with it!

It was probably no coincidence that San Diego's major Porsche dealership (Pioneer) was positioned just outside the side gate at Miramar Naval Air Station (formerly home to the NFWS or "Top Gun"). Many a fighter bubba took their first big re-enlistment bonus check, walked out the gate, across the street, and forked it over for a shiny P-car.

It makes for a fun evening to drive the 993 to airport, then drag the 195 out of the hangar for a pre-sunset flight. Jeff

I do love the work. After 17 years I still look forward to flying. Despite all the turmoil in the airline biz it still beats the hell out of wearing a suit and sitting in an office (I've done that too!)

Funny thing about the MD-88's at Delta are the registration numbers. Last week I flew ship N911DL and N993DL! And yes I do wear my Porsche hat in the cockpit under my headset.

I am just completing my PPL and once I do my tailwheel checkout I endeavor to get myself into an 8KCAB and eventually a Pitt's S-2B/C. I love Acro !!

Nice Beech, GG. Love the shot. I wish I had some inflight shots.

This is from this past weekend (taxiing up): (more pictures/videos here : http://www.pbase.com/jlsphoto )
