Default Looking to pitch the blade key...

I saw a mod post on p-car about switching it to a key/key fob type BUT the part numbers and prices do not match at all i.e. I have been quoted around 80.00 for the parts.

Any ideas OR andyone with an extra key fob ( :

Thanks all.

Is your switchblade housing broken? If not, I'd like to take that off your hands after you do your conversion!

I picked up the key cap ( w. coloured crest) for ~$20 ... but held on the less complex case that holds the PC and battery transferred from the switchblade, quoted at $80.
I figured $80 should get me a completely new immobolizer .. so I could go nuts trying to program it ....

My swithblade key broke, too. Costs to change to "old style" key fob:
Hand remote 993-618-959-12 $ 73.92
Lighted key head 944-538-041-00 22.32
Total $ 96.24

A week or so later I purchased a old, unused swithblade immobilizer on Ebay for $50 for a back-up. Got hosed on the new key blank from dealer $35.38.(Standard key blank ONLY $15.12!) Did the reprogramming on my own in about 5 minutes. Dealer wanted $140.00 to reprogram the immobilizer keys! Let me know if I can help.

Yes it does from the dealer. I got a complete remote fob w/electronics (993-618-259-02) and a lighted key cap for about $105 from Sunset. I was finally able to program it myself after setting off the horn about 5 times.

So if I tooled up a little injection-molded housing that could sell for, say, $25, how many could I sell?

(In other words, could I sell enough of them to pay for the tooling!)

Sure my friend. It is not broken at all-just not my preference for the vehicle.

I ordered the conversion parts so shoot me your address and I will send the housing to you after I am finished. OK?
