Found another cheap 993 when looking for bus parts on thesamba.com. This one is also blue, but is a tip. 109K miles, asking $22.5 obo. No affiliation, kickbacks, etc. Just wanted to post since the last one I posted was purchased by someone from the board. Good luck! Link is below.
Description:
Gaurds red with classic grey leather interior. 113,000 miles with full service history by opc and specialist inc all reciepts etc,18 inch turbo alloys, tiptronic S transmission, sunroof, cat 1 alarm and immobiliser, rear spoiler,s/s entry plates, looks and drives very well. "
Do we think this is a sensible realistic buy? Thinking of a first 993, being sold by a reputable specialist. Will it be a nightmare to own/maintain?
Well, from my perspective, it is an auto which makes it extremely less appealing (no offense to those with tip), it is the way he talks i.e. no native beads etc. Now, I bet he is one cool cat and a nice fellow BUT buyers of Porsches tend to want a very straight forward description and no nonsense type environments. Lastly, it has turned the dreaded 100k mark which, illogically, seems to turn MANY buyers away from these although a good engine can last way past the 100k mark.
If that could be had for 20k and it is as described, it is a deal of the month.
All it takes is a phone call to see what the seller is like and, um, being on that side of the world ( :
In August 06 someone posted in 993 forum about buying this car:
OK...I have a buddy with a 96 993 Carrera 2 Tiptronic Coupe,106K miles, pretty clean, runs and drives well, dark blue with grey interior, chrome wheels, new tires, etc. ...
What does a new engine for a 993 cost? $21k for the car and if the engine goes.....how much? Might work out well.
A brand new 996 engine sounds like it's about $12k to order/install...how much more for a 993? And what tends to go on the 993 engines at high mileage?
