Default tip becoming tipsy?

Can anyone help with standard 95' ( pre varioram ) C4 tip S gear change behaviour? Most of the last 4 years of ownership had the transmission changing up gears from cold start quite quickly. i.e. at around 2500 revs. Nowadays, she is holding all gears till the red line until she gets farily warm or I go into tip mode and 'manually' change gears. Then, all changes are normal.

I've just had the transmission oil changed after only 7000 miles from new since she is now 12+ years old.

All other bahaviour quite normal buts its really bugging me!

Who has changed the ATF oil and how?
There is a proceedure to do it.
The car must be running and on P position, to level the oil on the plastic tube screen against the gearbox.
If the person who did the oil level, did it with the car stopped, PLEASE DO NOT USE THE CAR before adjusting the error.
There is a gauge where it says 30 degrees centigrade, for the ATF oil to be, while the engine is running and in PARK position.
This is where you level the oil, with the engine cold, and RUNNING.
Then you drive the car for a few block, and return to the garage,
keep the engine running, and check the gauge with the ATF hot, it should be on the upper 60/80 degrees level.
take care

Do you know where I can check the transmission fluid level without raising the car?

Just curious - C4 + tip?

Thought C4 only came in manual.

That would be pretty tough. The transmission cover must be removed and the sight glass is tucked high, out of plain sight. Plan on putting it on jacks stands but it would be better if you knew someone with a lift.

Here is a before picture of my ATF sight glass. The car has been driven for 30 minutes and driven on to my scissors lift. As you can see, the fluid level is just below the 80* Max line. Though fine for daily driving, I think it is overfilled for DE events. When I change my ATF this weekend, I will only fill to the mid-range of the scale. (About a half pint less than the current level.) I had a little ATF spitting out the transmission vent during a DE last September. I never saw a drip but the tunnel just above the transmission was coated with a fine mist of ATF.

I am also switching brands. I am draining the Mobil 1 and I will try the Redline High Temperature ATF.

Dudley, I totally agree with you for DE, with a drop less of ATF, I used the trick
several times.
As for the mist, you mention it that there is a breather valve on the top, and personaly
I have never seen a tiptronic without the ATF mist on top. 100% normal.

Hi Guys,
I Have a 1995 993 carrera 2.... have issues with the auto transmission. some times the auto transmission works perfect and sometimes i have to rev the car to 5500rpm for a shift... my tip mode works perfect... when my auto transmission starts working its so perfect no jerks / no hard shift smooth as it can be.... have got the trasnmission filter and oil changed.... have checked the oil levels as the way it needs to be done... Run the car in P and check the level in the gear container then run the car a few blocks and re check the oil in the same level in the gear box..... what can be the problem

I've found the tip to have a mind of its own. I haven't had mine in P in over five years, so I can't tell you how it's "supposed" to work. Sometimes my manual shifts are smooth, occasionally jerky, and on rare occasions the car upshifts on its own even when in manual mode. On these occasions I chide it, downshift manually, and keep going. It gets the hint after that.
