I want to replace my battery. From reading the previous posts 75/35 is the right battery, but the new model number is 75/25? I just want confirmation before I purchase mine over the web. Are there any modifications needed? hold down bolts or cables? thanks much peter

Optima Redtop Model Number 12853. Fits the 993 no problem, that's what I have.

i was about to get an optima from a parts place, and was told the optima is too high for the 993, and the tie down wouldn't work. i haven't checked, but has anyone noticed that?

Either 75/25 or 75/35 work without mods. Went thru this just recently.

No problems with the tiedown nor any fittment issues with Optima Red Top 75/35.

Why not go for a yellow top ? i have one of each in my jeep (disconected when the car sits) and the red one looses voltage real fast.

Its not like we have massive Amp draw on the p-cars (winch, etc ...)

I went with a Red Top because it was 1) available immediately and close to me 2) less expensive than the Yellow.

925T with posts. Great little battery, plenty of power, and light. You don't need the metal jacket - MJ - model for car applications.

Aren't we talking about cars?? Why shouldn't I take a car application?? What those metal jacket do and how do you fix your car poles on the battery. Sorry for the question, I just want to buy the right one and I'm affraid that 380 CCA is a bit low.

Would it last a full week-end DE where you start your car about 20 times a day?

Metal jacket gives extra protection, especially if there's a risk of crush or penetration to the battery - in other words, not an issue for our cars.

If you're doing multiple cold starts, then you're right, you probably need more cranking amps. Otherwise, the advantage of this application is simply small package/lighter weight.

I am also in the market for a battery, and have more or less decided on an Optima Red or Yellow Top. When I look at my battery set-up in my 993TT, it seems to me that the post orientation of the Optima Model D35 is much better than the Model D75/35. The battery size is the same. However, with the D35 in place, the positive post is closer to the bumper, much like the battery that the Optima will be replacing. In order to get the 75/35 to sit with the correct post orientation, you have to place the battery in the "tray" with the GM-type side posts facing against the fender, which is OK, but defeats the purpose of having both the top posts and the side posts. Does this logic make sense??

I'm probably going to go with the Yellow Top, because even when the car is off, there is a constant load on the battery.
