Hi John,
I seem to recall it only costing $800, although I have not had to replace mine yet. Apparently, there is one really good guy who can do it. When I had the windshield of my Sequoia replaced, the installer said that this guy did it for all of the Porsche dealers. Contact Gennady Soykher at GT Performance. Gennady uses the same guy. 410-538-3400. You can either bring your car to GT or maybe have the guy come down to you. Good luck.

replaced my 95 993 for around $600 in dallas a few years back. $1100 seems high. Did you tell them it was an insurance job. That usually jacks the price up. Got a quote for $500 for my 964. I would make sure the shop has done Porsche windshields before. Doing it right seems to be more an issue than the price. I've heard of horror stories with post replacement leaks. Ask your Porsche dealer who they use or better yet your non-dealer Porsche shop.

Just did mine and they first tried a windshield made in China ( FYG) it didn't have the right plugin for the radio so they brought a Sigla back and it went in fine. 612.00 for glass alone 120.00 install and 38.00 for new gasket. YMMV

Im in the midst of 2 windshield replacements. One on my SUV, the other on my C4. Plus, I have a claim on my SUV after it was broken in at the airport and my center counsole and about $1500 worth of stereo equipment, including a busted out window.
Never had an insurance claim in my life and I just got hit with 3 in the past few months.

When a rock did my windscreen in, last summer, the $tealership quoted $1,200. A google search turned up several "1-800"-type joints and 'internet-quotes' (based on type, year, etc.) were 600 to 800 on average.
I finally 'settled' on one of the internet-quotes ($760) and got it done then by an affiliated, local, glass-installer. I supplied my own gasket (Pelican Parts).
The job - on a scale of 1-10, where 10 is factory-perfect, was about a 4.
The glass is skewed in the frame and so the VIN is partially obscured, the gasket by the driver's side-window 'curls in' and there's a leak whenever I wash it, by the passenger side - by the sun-roof. Plus, they damaged* the new gasket during installation.
I *strongly* suggest you ask around and shop around -- so as to NOT go thru' the ajata that I went/am going thru'
Gerry
(And yes, I'm getting the glass 're-done' *by ANOTHER* shop, as part of my winter projects)
Oh yeah, the idiots, on Long Island, who did this to my car, are Triumph Autoglass, Merrick Rd., Lynnbrook.
