I was thinking of getting a used one for my wife and wanted to know some of your opinions/experience. New these things were like $70k, I can get into one for about $40K (with 12k miles and certified 6yrs/100k). Any information would be great.

I had a 05 ESV for a year. It was my daily commuter - 200km's roundrtip daily - awesome. I didn't experience any mechanical issues and maintenence was covered under warranty so, other than the hefty fuel consumption, there were no addistional $ spent.
I guess it really depends on the application though. As a puddle-jumper it didn't really fit the bill. My wife found it difficult to navigate in parking lots and ultimately park - even though it had the back-up sensors. I, on occasion, found it a little clumsey when going to meetings downtown T.O. - parking underground etc. If you like SUV's, however, nothing beats the ride quality and commanding view on the highways.
