I searched the archives and didn't find exactly what I was looking for, so my apologies if this has been asked before.
I was driving in stop and go traffic when I noticed a slight resistance shifting into first gear. I would be in second gear, pushing in the clutch pedal, then shifiting into 1st. There was no problem getting into 1st, but there definitely was a little resistance and a faint sound when it did it. Any ideas, or is this normal.
Another issue, I've noticed a faint sound from the right rear of the car when starting from a stand still. Doesn't happen all of the time, but when it does it feels like there is some give in the drivetrain. I do have the ASD option...would that have something to do with it?
car has 23k on it. And note that it doesn't have any problem getting into gear, it just has some initial resistance and a little thud when I initially try to put it in 1st. Thanks.
With the car in gear and engine off, push the clutch in, then start the car while in gear and see if it wants to lurch forward a little bit while starting. This may identify the clutch plate sticking on the input shaft splines.
