Nice work! Your carriage house looks beautiful.

I am getting geared up for building bunkhouse and fitness room along a similar vein. I have been collecting recycled materials for a while for the project. I too am planning on an old-fashioned barn-raising. Hopefully we can have the entire structure enclosed in one very large weekend. Since this a second floor addition over part of my house, I don't have to worry about excavation or concrete work. I just have to worry about the weather....! I already reinforced the lower floor and beefed up the existing attic joists. I am really looking forward to the good weather so I can get started. Tearing off complete roof scares me, especially in Seattle. We may try to do a build-over and then tear out the old roof and rafters.
