I was wondering if anyone has gutted there cat? what performance gains this would add? Would there be any difference between gutting the stock cat vs bypass (Fabspeed/Dach)?

from what I have been told, there is no HP gain from removing the cat. the main benefit is less weight and better sound. I would be careful with gutting the cat, I did that in the past and got really bad resonance out of the exhaust.

On the 993tt the matrix is metal so it really can't be removed without cutting the cat open and removing the insert. The NA cars are probably the same...

I'd assume that a gutted cat would still be kinda heavy. But I do know this- you can get bypass pipes for $250 or less used, and they weigh only about 7 lbs. Much better than the 27 lb stock cat. This is the route people typically go.

They will sound bad, and that'll just be the begining of your problems
We'd be happy to ship you out a set of bypass pipes if you wish (only993), PM me for details

Are the factory Cats a true X-pipe with bank to bank scavenging? - or is there an isolation plate inside of what looks like a 'X' to keep the banks separate?
