Default Modernized Fuch's ?

I have always thought that Fuch's were THE Porsche wheel so...
I was thinking of possible taking some wheels like "A" (From a boxster)
Painting / Powder Coating like wheel "B"
To get a modern interpretation of Wheel "C"
What do you all think? Is this a worthy project or a waste of time?

you could try getting a set of these??

They're either 17" or 18" wheels

I think it's a rather creative idea.

I think that's a great concept and I would love to see how they come out. How do you think they would look given their assymetric spoke shape?

There is a US shop creating 17" (possibly 18"?) rims based on Fuchs. If you search on RS replicas in the 964 forum you might find the strings. The RS clone was unusual because it used modern mirrors (which actually looked very good).

If you can afford to take a punt then please do and share the pictures. Worst case, you have to get them repainted and sell them on...

Cheers,

David

I contacted Lindsey racing about a set of their 17" Fuchs for my 993 a few months ago. Their response was that it can't be done in the front without flares. Apparently you can't get the Fuchs face far enough to the front of the rim to get appropriate offset. Also, the clearance from the mounting face to the inside of the petals is likely not enough for 993 brakes, so you'd have too little offset, plus even worse offset from spacers.

Also, stylistically, much of the good looks of the Fuchs wheel comes from the proportions between the size of the center petals and the overall diameter. IMO, the 15s were proportioned best, the 16s start to look odd, and the 17s just have too much rim.

Best solution for one-offs would be a custom forged and spun wheel from billet, with the petals machined at the end. Likely heavy, and certainly silly-expensive.

Back to option B which looks like a modern interpretation of a Fuchs wheel.

I wonder if you could do the same with the stock 993 17" wheel?

ZP has painted (color coordinated stock 993 wheels) centers on his car. Rally are you suggesting painting the centers or creating a different look by partially painting the rims like Jeffs idea? Any picture concepts for the imagination impared?
