When racing the factory 993 RSR's and GT2's we always utilized the gearbox cover panel. It supposedly creates a vacuum in the gearbox area and that forces air to flow around the rear brakes, suspension and drive train, not to mention the fact that the ACO required it at Le Mans so you would be seriously penalized without it. My vote would be to leave it on.

Thanks TCallas. I think that about settles it. Like BillW, I'll leave it off a few days to recheck for leaks then on it goes. Thanks guys. (Still will leave engine cover off though, if that's OK) : )

I still reckon that if Porsche wanted the engine cover to be off, they would have saved the money and not put them on in the first place.
Surley there is no real improvment when they are left off.

Fair enough except for the urban legend that one of the trays (engine) was place just to placate Swiss noise *****. T/F??
