The Racedeck pieces have a raised checkered pattern underneath with cutouts to allow water to drain.
Racedeck pieces have a raised checkered pattern underneath with cutouts to allow water, oil and any other wet crud that comes off the bottom of your car to get underneath, where it sits unseen in the cold, dark, moist space, unable to evaporate, perhaps growing mold, perhaps smelling bad, until you rip up the tiles everytime you want to clean your floor.

That's from their marketing materials, isn't it?

I'd love to see a fluid proof, jack proof tile system.

I really like the look of tiles, but for the reasons you stated, I do like my mat systems. It is impervious to water, oil, brake fluid, etc. and is jack proof. That said, I still put a piece of carpet under jack stands.

Just buy some jackstands with the bottom plate if you dont have access to a welder. I would suggest that for any prepared garage floor - painted, tiled, carpeted.

Ceramic tiles. I have them and no problems with jackstands, oil, brake fluid...

here's the link

I spoke to Gavin in the delaware location. He said he'd match the $1.60/tile on a size order. I ordered 500 tiles.

tony...

Quality seems good although I havent done a side by side comparo to Race deck. I didnt ask about any warranty. If you bust a tile, you can always snap a new one in.
I used a band saw to cut mine. Slices right through very easily. As far as drainage, it's not as fast as I would like. On the other hand, during the winter, I wash my cars in the garage so there's lots of water to drain. This summer I plan to etch a few 1/4" deep grooves into the concrete floor under the bay where I do the washing to accelerate the drainage. Even without tiles, the water would just sit on a garage floor for a while unless you accelerate the evaporation by sweeping up the large puddles.

Tony. not sure about a jack stand (likely depends on the stand and how sharp the bottom edges are) but when I dropped the engine/trans on my 993 I rolled the entire weight of it on a ATV jack (four rollers) all over my flooring with no problem. Also rolled it off and back on the flooring... it didn't give in. One of the edges I had to roll over was a ramped edge with the finish kit and the other was a "raw" edge.
I don't hose out my shop so water isn't a factor for me. Just sweep and I'm done.

This stuff is tough and easy to clean. For those worried about dirt getting in the cracks you can vacuum if you want to. As for fluids, I R/R'd the engine/trans in my car and didn't have large fluid spills. Not sure why I'd worry about the Exxon Valdez factor... If I did have such an accident I could simply pull up some tiles and clean.

My flooring is the same stuff but I bought it via Costco. Same price per sq. ft when it was on sale. Only difference is I didn't have the color choices LT1's supplier offers! Dang.

Thanks for the input Mark... I don't have a problem with much rain or snow here either.
