My car has been misfiring mainly under load or hard acceleration. It had a main opc service about 2,000 klms ago and I have had the plugs replaced as well. So it has gone back to the opc and they think the problem is related to a broken distributor belt, but they have to send the distributor back to Germany to have it rebuilt. Would someone try and explain to me why they don't just change the belt or why does the distributor have to be rebuilt and why only one.
Thanks in advance
Peter
That's very strange, the distributor belt can be replaced as a DIY if you a relatively competent. Or if you do a search, there's a Rennlister who does the rebuild for $150 plus shipping.
Ummmm they shouldn't need to send it to germany. You can purchase a new one/core exchange at the dealer. I'm sure there is someone who can change the belt or rebuild the unit in your area.

Thanks for the comments.
I live in Portugal which has only 2 dealers, they have told me none of the dealers in Spain have one, so it will be an exchange unit in Germany. I believe it can be rebuilt but not locally, also if it comes from Porsche they give a 2 year warranty.
What I don't understand is if it is the belt why does the distributor have to be rebuilt and why only one as there are 2
