It's different strokes ... some folks would love a car that's perfect and has everything done, and don't mind paying the premium for it. Jeff's car is a great example of a showpiece with low mileage and all the right upgrades, meticulously detailed, etc. Someone will glady ante up for it.
I live in Boston, want to drive the car daily for the most part, and a car like his doesn't fit my needs -- I wouldn't park his car on the street or drive it in the rain, and I'd be worried about getting dings and so forth. So I paid very little for a clean 97 C2 cab with no accidents or paint and under 60k miles, but with a new top and 18" rims -- $30k -- and I'm working through the issues -- suspension, clutch, SAI -- hoping to come out with a heck of a nice car for about $36k. My first hurdle was to pass emissions, which I did, thus dodging the top end bullet for now.
The great low mileage cars that you can steal come up from time to time, but sometimes a known car from a Rennlister is well worth the premium. YMMV

Jeff,
late to this thread. That's a really beautiful car. I see your resaons for the sale. If it is only the track factor, I'd suggest grabbing a low option base Cayman for that use. It is at least 350 lbs lighter than a 993.
But seeing that there is a 997.5 cab in the future, then the sale is just a matter of time, and the next cab will be just as sweet. So it is a good move to sell the 993. Although if you can hang on for a few more months, the cab will be that much more alluring in the spring time.
In any case, best of luck with your sale. It is a pristine car. Someone will be a very lucky and happy owner.

Jeff, as another black cab owner unless you have your heart set on the 997 add the roll bar, track tires and whatever esle you want to do and track it....my car is a garage queen /track car, ie wanted a cab and then found out about de's 5 years later. new instrutor ( proof that the Peter princiapal is real ) .....you know the car so well and what is in it is unique..... cars can serve multiple jobs ,just my humble opinion.............either way lots of luck with your decison

Jeff, just catching up on RL after a busy period at work. I am surprised that you're selling your beautiful car, but as many have said, some new owner will get a beautiful, spotless ride.
I will be interested to follow your process in finding and setting up a 993 track car. I sometimes think I should have gone that route, as my car isn't nearly concours condition as yours, but at 33K miles and being just the 2nd owner, I am a bit reticent to track it much. Maybe I just need a second 993 - don't tell my wife!

I can see the virtues of a Cayman in that regard, however the initial outlay would be much more than my car. I do like yours, however. Do you rent it out for track days? I'll fly to you.
