front license plate bracket needed
while my car was parked, i got my first ticket for not having a front plate so i guess it is time to put the front plate on (since i can't afford to get a $100 ticket every time i street park!). two problems: 1, i don't have a front plate (PO didn't have it anymore) and 2, i don't have a bracket for it. i am taking care of #1 with the DMV the week after next and i was hoping someone on RL might have a bracket they don't need.
TIA

Take a look at the below links. One is a prior posting on the subject with some photos and the other is a company that sells a modified bracket that sits lower than the OEM.
Good luck...

The guy must own a Carerra of some vintage because he makes a license plate mount that uses the tow hook.
I just got one for my Carerras just in case.

i have seen the inventaconcepts bracket, and thought about getting it, but it seems to me that it might block air flow to the oil cooler. $45 also seems like an absurd amount of $ to pay for it (although i did buy his cup holder, which is great)

Having made a bracket similar to the inventiva unit I'd say that 45 clams isn't bad if you're not handy. For that price you get all the parts you need, they're nicely made with real instructions and there's no fear of being the first to do it.

I got tired of getting one or two "no front plate" tickets every year. I bought the Inventa plate holder because it attaches the plate below the bumper so it does not completely ruin the lines of the nose of the car. And it is about the same price as the factory plate holder: for example, look at Performance Products website (www.performanceproducts.com) and you'll see the factory plate holder at $49.95, plus S&H.
Good luck with this. Mark

I made one with a couple of angle brackets made from scrap angle Al, put some screw fasteners into the underside of the bumper cover. Keeps it off the nose.
Now I have a bracket attached to my tow hook. It's fugly, but spins off when I get to the track and then I put the Rennline tow hook in its place.

Well, I've been searching the house and wrapping gifts all day, and I haven't yet come across the plate holder.
I'll keep searching, but if Jay has one handy then that's the best deal since I'm hoping to avoid unpacking my entire house to find it, lol.
If that doesn't work let me know, as unpacking the house is still an option.
Good luck!
