Thanks for the responses guys. Looks like I should rethink the seats and maybe add gears
plus LSD further up the list. I'm glad the shifter bits are up there on your list Hank as it is
something I can do on my garage and it's not very expensive. Cheers and thanks again
for the Excellent article.

I am the fortunate new keeper of the Cohn-built RS - what a car. Bob Chapman of Excellence did a great job of capturing the magic that Hank has created. I bought this as a combination track car (DEs and possible PCA racing), show car, and occasional street car. Amazingly, this car can do all three. This 993 replaced a gorgeous 1996 Midnight Blue C4S (now with a new keeper in Seattle). For those of you in the Texas area, I hope to see/meet you at MSR, Eagle's Canyon, etc.

Greg - no aluminum doors on an RS. 964 RS-yes, 993 RS-no. I know that there are some of those around - they were made for the 993 GT2s (and all of them don't have them either) and are as rare as hen's teeth. About as expensive too.

The early '96 spec GT2 had them, but not fitted to the later '98 Evo model.
I saw a set of Gt2 ali doors for sale earlier in the year and they were roughly $7000.

Hank,
Beautiful car, great article, wonderful photos.
I have known Bob Chapman for the last six years. I met him at my first Blue Ridge Boxster Summit in May of 2000. On the first night of this event, the attendees had gathered at a restaurant in Asheville NC for dinner and a meet and greet. By sheer coincidence, my wife and I were seated across from Bob and his lovely wife. Over dinner that fateful evening 6 years ago, Bob spoke of his interest in motorsports photography and his passion for Porsche racing history.
For the next 5 or 6 annual Blue Ridge Boxster Summits, Bob would tirelessly work on the BRBS planning committee, host photography workshops, organize and take early dawn photos of our cars on Grandfather Mountain, and generally enthrall us with his knowledge, talent, and humor.
With your 993 RS and many other articles in Excellence over the last year, I am so glad and heartened to see Bob's autosports writing and photojournalist career take off.
Regards,
- rick

Hank and Bob,
I just finished the article and enjoyed every word. I guess I'm on record as never having been too impressed with the normal 993 variants but the RS and RSCS are among my favorite Porsches. I've had the pleasure of racing wheel to wheel with three "real" RSCSs over the last several years and the beauty and capability of those cars is just amazing. Driving one on the street must be a real treat.
Here is one of my favorite racing pics taken at Daytona this year.
Thanks again,
Jim
