Default For the Formula One fans...late 80s

Two Brazilian drivers back in 1986...one of the greatest Formula 1 moments...

Jackie Stewart's comments (in Portuguese) by the end of the video says:

"Just like performing a looping on a Boing 747"...

Pedro,

Awesome clip! What a pass, and on the outside, to boot.

Does anyone remember Piquet's sliding, hairpin pass in Hungary? Legendary...

The only reason he got away with the pass was, Senna slowed to avoid hitting the sliding Piquet.

But most importantly, it worked and took huge titanium ***** to attempt!

Man what I would give for a few laps in an F-1 car!!!!!!!!!!!!

The good old days of F1 when racers actually passed on the track.

That's awesome - you'll never see driving like that again in F1, thanks to the "progress" of technology. It's a miracle to even see the rear end twitch on the modern cars.

Senna is the man.

Great clip Pedro!

Senna is the very very close second best F1 driver ever IMO, below is a clip who I think is the greatest Formula 1 driver ever lived, Gilles Villeneuve, and probably the most exiting couple of F1 laps ever.

Villeneuve vs. Arnoux.

You can say what you want about Senna, but Michael Schumacher is & was the best F-1 driver in history hands down!
I doubt if any of us will ever live long enough to see someone eclipse his numerous records for wins, poles, championships, fast laps, etc.

You're dreaming if you think Schumacher was the best

He'd have to have driven in a real drivers car, like the ones above, not computer controlled, to be deemed the best

GV was definitely one of the most raw, naturally talented drivers ever to compete in F1. I consider myself quite fortunate to have seen him race twice ('78 & '79).

His status in Grand Prix racing is legendary, no doubt. Btw, that clip at Dijon was incredible. The first time I saw that footage Murray Walker was doing the commentating - you can imagine how excited he was! Anyway, the scrap w/ Arnoux typified the type of driver GV was. AND, that battle was 2nd place, too.

For me, the most impressive thing that GV did was to be 11 seconds faster than anyone in the wet at Watkins Glen during one of the practice sessions. I know wet sessions can't be taken too seriously because not everyone is trying to go flat out, and some choose not to go out at all, but I don't think I've ever seen a timing sheet where the fastest driver was 11 seconds quicker than next guy in equal conditions.

Totally agree!

That and Senna's drive in Donington are one of those "out of this wolrd" drives that are hard to believe even when you see them with your own eyes.

GV was my Hero growing up, posters filled my room and after his death I stopped watching F1 for a couple of years.
As for the Piquet pass... damn... Hey Finn I thought it was you driving

Thanks Pedro for the link
