OK...well I have to see if there actually is a problem/crack in the rim that exists first...

Secondly, I have no plans to sell the car....I dont drive it hard and certainly I wouldnt track it...so the deal about selling it with any possible crack, most likely wouldnt happen.

I do very much appreciate though...your guy's wisdom as to related to safety. I dont drive it hard, but if there actually is a crack (which has yet to be determined), then I would have to evaluate any possible repairs, and probably consult someone local such as wheel enhancement to see what they think... hopefully there will not be any crack and nothing to worry about!

Hi Garry,

Where/who is that local tyre fitter as I have a very slow leak (few pounds a fortnight) so need to follow my own advice!

Cheers,

David

Update on this: Took a good look at the rim today, it was free of cracks and was very clean. So we remounted the tire with some sealant bead which hopefully will solve any issue. Thanks to everyone for their help here. Im happy that the rim is good.

I am having the same problem with air leaking out. Found out today that the rim is cracked. How is the best way to find a good used rim and what are they going for? The rim is original 17" rear tire.

Try Wheel Enhancement here in SoCal for a replacement wheel. Otherwise maybe ebay.. Sorry to hear of this.

For reference, where is it cracked? Inner wheel local to the bead?

I'm not sure where the crack is, the shop just called me with the good news we found your problem, the bad news you need a new rim. It should be a good excuse to upgrade ...... maybe Santa?

Here is an Update: After going through 2 sets of Bridgestone G Force KDW2 tires, all of which began leaking on the Porsche rims...

I switched back to Yokohama AVS ES100s.

The Result: NO Leaks at all and its been over a month.
Conclusion: G Force KDW2s do not sit well on Porsche 993 TT hollows

Same problem recently with a Pirelli. Replaced valve and cleaned rim again...same problem. Finally dunked the wheel/tire in water and found three tiny pin holes where the sidewall meets the tread. They are so small that we almost missed them.

Another point perhaps worth noting for the future: the valves for the hollow spoke wheels have special rubber sealing washers; these can get chewed up if the valve is over tightened.
