Any info is greatly appreciated.

I know for a fact that the seat rails are different.
The 993 rails are horizontal, whereas the 996 rails are angled at 45'.
I wish it would be possible.

I don't know what the difference is between a normal 996 seat and a GT3 seat (sliders that is) but my GT3 seats fit with 996 sliders with only the most minor mod to the slider ( a front bracket gets removed and a hole gets drill slightly larger)

geo,

Actually, it is very much possible.

996/986 seats absolutely do fit into 993's and do so with a straight, bolt-in procedure. I bought a set of GT3 sheels seats out of a 986 and bolted the supplied Porsche (Recaro) side panels right into my car's mounting points, just to see if the myth about the seats not fitting was true or not. It is not true. The seats dropped in and fit just fine and required no extra machining, juggling or monkeying. The downside is that the side panels are so high that the GT3 seats raised you higher than the stock 993 seats. I used Brey-Krause panels to lower me down a bit, and then fit washers and longer bolts under the front rail to rake me back a tad.

If one is trying to fit 996 electric seats into a 993, the wiring connection may be different and would require some adaptation to work.

Click this link to read about my GT3 seat install. Pics did not make the system switch-over, though:

Check over on hte 944 forums. When I had my S@ I picked up a set of 996 seats but couldn't bring myself to beat on them to make them fit. The underseat connector wiring is different. You can pound the mounting rails straight (carefully of course) and IIRC you need to somethiing about the pins at the rear of the mounts.

The OP is trying to fit 996 seats into a 993, not a 944.

They fit just fine in my TT.

Although they sit a bit higher. Which is a BIT annoying to me as I am a tall guy.

True, but the seat mountings in the floor pan are the same. I've got 993 seats in my 944.

Tim I am too (tall). If you end up keeping the car, you can do what I did and alter the seat braket to set the rake of the back of the seat down for more head clearance

Ed,

That's what I thought. I wasn't sure, so I kept my mouth shut.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
I've got a pair of 996 sport seats removed from my ex-996 turbo, and I always thought they were UN-mountable on the 993.
the day I removed them, I looked at the rails, and it seemed the rails were at 45' degrees.
So I packed them in large bin bags, and stored them away.

ARE YOU SURE GUYS THAT THEY WILL MOUNT?
you would make my day !!!
