Default Wanted: 18in. hollow spokes for narrow body

Hi,

I am casually looking for a set of 4 reasonably priced 18 in. hollow spoke OEM wheels for a Narrow Body 993.

Condition should be GOOD or better (scratches / blemishes okay, major damage not okay).

Willing to pay up to $800 (depending on condition) + shipping for wheels only (no tires).

PART NUMBERS:
===========
P/N: 993 362 136 00 (front)
P/N: 993 362 140 01 (rear)

Thanks for looking.

/alex

A good set of hollow spokes is going to run closer to $2k.

There is a set just listed in the Rennlist Classifieds for $1395...that is about as low as I have seen them. Never seen any under $1000 that did not have some issue.

For reference...in 9/2002, I paid $1300 for a set that was 9.5 out of 10. You will not get a decent set for under $1000.

I paid $1500 for a set of 7.5/10 x 18 hollowspokes with so-so tires from a fellow Rennlister - the wheels are in excellent condition.
If youre interested let me know. The so-so tires were replaced with Michelin Pilot Sport PS1 tires which have less than 1000 miles and are 2 years old. I would sell for $2000 plus shipping.

Default thanks for the responses so far

Thanks for the responses so far. I appreciate the reference points on prices but I think my offering price is not unrealistic especially without tires. I am in no particular rush. Not be a wisea$$, but keep in mind that asking prices dont' always equal actual transaction prices.

FWIW I have personal knowledge of a set of 4 with some blemishes and 2 out of 4 wheels slightly out of true, but very fixable, selling for $700.

Even wheels advertised as in excellent condition can be slightly out of true.

I would like to run Yokohama Neons so that's why I am looking for wheels only.

Thanks

/alex

Alex, I am not that picky. I would be interested in the set for $700 if you are passing on them.

Thanks Alex, I have a set already. A $700 price is too low to ignore.

I have a wide body set same fronts with the 993 362 140 00 rears 10 X 18 with Et 40. They are perfect structurally with cosmetic scuffs but no damage. You can always machine down the back to change the offset.

I was looking to get $800 but make me an offer if you think you can use them.

Anthony, thanks for the offer. I will get back to you on whether I want to move forward with adapting a wide-body offset wheel.

I often thought about machining down the 996TT hollow spoke wheel hub for my NB car, but taking almost an inch off of the back of them doesnt sit well with me structurally speaking.

I have generally only heard folks frowning on this...the only people I have heard advocate it are some of the secondary wheel vendors who want to sell 'em.

Now that I look closely it cannot be done. The space between the lug nut seat and the part that buts up against the hub is 1/2 inch for both front and rear wheels. This gives you 1/2 of material holding the wheel onto the car. If you machined this down there would not be enough stock to hold the wheel onto the car. You would have to weld up the area and machine it to work. welding would destroy the temper so the wheels would need to be heat treated to a T6 condition.

If the seat sat higher into the wheel and longer studs were used machining would not be an issue. The mechanical strengths of properly heat treated aluminum alloys are pretty high.

Anyone interested in a set of widebody hollow spokes for track use cheap?

Anthony,

thanks for looking into this but it looks like it's a no-go for a NB, as you pointed out.
