Talking O.T. Ohh what a tune, Renault RB26 F1 RPM's Baby

And we thought tuning our cars with a laptop was special...

It might be a Renault, but she sounds fine (Renault RB26 F1)

Yeah - great isn't it? Those engines are outstanding - there's nothing like standing close to one when it screams at 15-20k RPM.

And you wonder where the $500M goes on these teams - must be nice to have that kind of promotional money

Hendrix would have gone crazy with appreciation. I wish I could have an F1 scream as my ring tone. Unfortunately, the F1 ring tones don't work with Verizon.

Does your phone let you record memos? I do that to record ringtones. Mine right now is master shake yelling about the phone ringing. My phones tones ar not loud enough so I recorded my own.

I was standing about 25 feet away when they did that (at Goodwood Festival of Speed) and you would not believe what it sounds like in real life. Amazing.

John,

Hmmmm, yes it does. Good idea. Now, I need to find a good quality recording of a shrieking F1 engine.

Don't have it any more but I had recording (recorded it myself) of 22 Formula 1 cars arriving behind the trees, braking to the first (old track layout) shicane in Hockenheim and then accelerating again, and there were two Ferrari V12 engine in to the mix, what a friggin' sound that was...

Finn,

Sounds like a good alarm ringer in the morning. That would get me out of bed!

We did that in Hungary! And it was for real, not just recorded alarm clock!

We had our bigass RV parked just outside of the track (Hungaroring is located sort of on the bottom and surrounded by hills) and watched the race from the roof of the RV. Saturday morning you'd wake up for sure when the cars roll out!
Then climb on the roof, get some beer and B-B-Q some breakfast... Damn good times!

Cool. I've been to a few 24 hour races and crashed in an RV. There's something very special about waking up to the sounds of cars screaming away in the background, knowing that, while we slept, cars and drivers battled throughout the night and into the morning.
