Default Fender Clear Bra issue

How many of you have kept the clear protection on the rear fenders. On my car (red) it looks grey and pitted. I got a quote to get it removed, but I am debating about putting one back on.
Any thoughts or opinions? BTW, it will costs $100.00 to get it removed.

remove it yourself, then use that C-note to buy a new seat and apply. You'll be sorry if you dont replace them..

I'm with Chris...you will not like the end results if you do not replace them.

Mine came right off but others have had adhesive residue left behind that needs to be cleaned up with 3M adhesive remover.

Really, I had mine gone in 60 seconds. No heat gun, no hot afternoon, nothing special. Just find an edge and pull slowly.

I agree with the others here.... just got mine replaced a couple weeks ago. I had an installer remove the old ones and put the new ones on. I think it's better to replace the stone guards every few years than to get the fender repainted.

The old ones should come off pretty easy, be sure when you replace them with the new ones that your hands are very clean. If you get a fingerprint on the sticky side it is impossible to get out.

FWIW, I just removed all of the clear protection that came with my '95 993. I left the rear fender stoneguards in place. The clear protection was quite old, yellowed, and starting to accumulate debris under many of the edges. I spent a great deal of time cleaning and properly polishing the car last week and started noticing how bad the clear material really was. It came off without a hitch. I actually found that the heat gun caused adhesive to remain. It took an awfully long time to remove everything, but the paint now looks perfect.

I will look into a proper replacement next year.

Removing the fender gaurds is kind of like removing the factory shift ****.

Shift ****... pull hard... pull harder ... POP... hit self in head at full force with fist wrapped around now free shift ****. ***REPEAT***

Fender Guards... find corner with finger nail... pry up... get enough to get good grip with hand... pull ... pull hard ... (wait for it) ... pull harder ... POP (guard tears free) ... go flying backwards in garage and land on butt while simultaneously hitting head on jack stands you never bothered to put away. ***REPEAT***

If you're replacing them, not a bad idea to go with the turbo ones, a little bigger = more protection.
