That's what I did when I became a BMW owner and didn't know if Dinan was pronounced Dee-nan or Dye-nan. I called their HQ and the message confirmed it was the latter.

Haha. Yes, "Ruf" is pronounced as "roof". And Ruf does NOT recommend removing the engine cover, btw. They believe it must be left on. But this was their response to a guy that drives his Ruf at 208 mph in the Nevada open road races. YMMV. Mine is still off. For now.

Try saying "roof" while trying to clear your throat at the same time.
And make sure there is someone there to tell you how you are doing.

It only sounds like roof if you live in the right places. Hereabouts in Virginia (pronounced "Vuhginya") the thing that keeps the rain out of our houses is usually a ruff, but where I grew up in Philadelphia (pronounced "Norfeast Fluffya") it's a reeoof or a rooooof.
In Pfaffenhausen (pronounced "Ruf") I think it's more like took or hoof than boot, goof or Hoover.
