Default break wear sensor?

Does anyone have a brake wear sensor laying around that you want to sell? I replaced all the lightbulbs on my dash when I discovered that the brake wear indicator is on. I ohmed out all the sensors when I discovered that the LR wheel sensor is completely missing! Of course, it was the last wheel I checked. All I know is that it appears that the wire, plug and everything else in the caliper is missing.

For those that disabled the system, ill be happy to take 1 of these sensors off your hands.

I know that I can disable this by shorting the wires, but I wiould like to fix this the proper way.

Best regards, TJ90

Hey tj,

I think I have a full set that you can have. I'll have to look when I get back. I owe you for the great lead on the watch, one which is currently residing on my wrist.

Mark: Thats great! Im also glad that you are enjoying the watch!

I just shoved some wire in the socket to short out the senor on the missing wheel and the light is still illuminated. maybe my problem is bigger than a mising wheel sensor??? Perhaps loose connection on another wheel?

Does anyone have any other ideas on debugging this? I ohmed the other 3 wheels and they have continuity. How do I determine the location of the open?

Also, does the brake wear indicator light only go out after the car is started?

Thanks, TJ (BTW, Mark - PM me once you determine if you have a sensor, I will send you mailing info and payment if you want).

as someone else said "is this a great place or what?!"

TJ, the sensor is a continuous wire that is worn through when the wear limit is reached, i.e. the circuit is broken. Thus, you should be able to connect the ends and the light should go out.

OK - I went back thru all the plugs and discovered that on one of the wheels, I plugged the wire into the wrong hole. Moved the plug and WHAMMO light is off.

Mark, please PM if you have a wheel sensor. Grazie! Err, I mean danke! This is a Porsche forum after all.....
