993 Values Appreciating

Convinced the 993s are headed for collector car status.
For instance, the RS market has dried up. Last year, there were 5-10 RS Tourings for sale at mobile.de at any time. Add the RSCS and the Cup cars and the numbers hovered at 17-20 for a combined total.
Now, there are 2 RS touring offered at anytime. Add a few Cup cars and the numbers are at 7-9. The RSCS is virtually unseen anymore (107 built... complete with street papers)
Owners of RS's expect their value is appreciating. In the last year, the market price has gone from 60-65 K euros to 73-80 k euros for good RS tourings.
The same trend is developing for the C2S and (IMO the C2 also) in the North American market. More so than the C4S... (from a collector POV, the AWD system is not as desirable).
So if you own a C2 or C2S, expect depreciation to stop and value to begin an upward trend.
Again, this is my opinion.

Look, driving a car will always lower it's value in a way but go and see some historic races (Monterey, Rennsport Reunion...), there are people driving 917s, old and even older un-replacaple Formula 1 cars etc!
I'll guarantee you'll enjoy your C2S more when you drive it than when you look at it. You say you wanna DRIVE your C2S 2hich is right thing to do!
Save the daily commute for some other car and do real driving with your C2S, that way you don't get ton of miles and every drive is a joy (stop & go sucks)!

The return on investment is when I go out for a drive and I am the only one who knows it has 150K miles on it.

I love the 997S of all the H20 pumpers except of course the 997 GT3 and GT3RS. But for what you paid for your 997S and I'm assuming it's new. I would of bought a 993TT and a SCION or evan a WRX STi for the price you paid for your 997S. So I can use the TT for non-rainy days and the SCION or WRX for a Daily Driver. Just my .02 and now you don't have to worry about whether your car is going to depreciate because you got the 993TT.

There are only a few dozen 993's for sale accross all of Canada at one time so they do demand a higher price than the U.S. There are more U.S. cars for sale here in the last year or so due to the stronger Canadian dollar but a local car always pulls more money. If you are looking for a wide body car, they are even harder to come by, so a low KM car that is local and is an S goes for top dollar. The U.S. prices are so low compared to Canada but it is also a great market to sell into. If you think a nice C2S is hard to find in the U.S. try finding one here!

"63k for a 50k car is ridiculous.......He'll never get it. "
Well, he might get close. $50k is way too low for a low mile 1997 C4S at this point, if the car is really nice, all records, etc, etc. Sure, I am biased, but I watch pretty closely for obvious reasons. We can debate this forever, though, and no intent.
If a low miles 1997 C4S is in great shape and $50k, someone ought to buy it FAST. That is a good deal.
