Doug- The down-and-dirty way is to remove the mufflers and have a muffler shop use a cutting torch to create the holes, then weld in an aluminized 2" pipe. About $50. You might have to talk them into making the holes nearly full size (~1 1/2") and shaping the ends of the 2" pipes to fit somewhat flush. They'll fill in gaps with some weld. It ain't pretty, but with a little luck, it'll look OK. When you stuff it back into it's home, no one will ever see it.
Took my shop way less than an hour and the guy stuffed the cash in his pocket. Good deal for both of us!

Thanks Jim, FisterD is minutes from my location and has offered to help me out with modding my mufflers, he's done this a few times already and his work looks great
I'll report back when I get mine done and re-installed!

When I had my 993, I put RSR mufflers on from Robin. They were awesome. Sound was perfect and at 4200 rpm the engine really screamed up to the redline. And Robin is one of the nicest Porsche people out there. Here's the link:

Whoa, this is turnin' into a party!
I've heard the RSR on a 993 (sounded good!) but from what I've been told the LPMM creats a little more of that sports car sound, if you're into that sort of thing.
I'm doing this as a safety measure. When I track my car I can barely hear the exhaust with my helmet on, I don't want to have to be looking at the tach to know when to shift.
One of the things I mis most about my 71 911 is the sound of the 2.2S MFI motor whailing away at 7300 RPM through the sport exhaust... no better sound on earth.
I'm psyched to hear what these babies do for the 3.6 lump in the back.

I got RSRs in 2004 and did the LPMM a few months ago. So I have RSRLPMM.
Although I think the bypass negates the effect of RSRs for all practical purposes.
For me, it's the perfect sound with regards to both pitch and volume. Deep and throaty without being too loud, and certainly not near being obnoxious.
