Almost died in one of those cars, many years ago, running as a "navigator" in what was then called the "Alpine Trophy Dash", a somewhat ill-conceived "road rally" conducted by a Southern Illinois University Sports Car Club. No penalty points for coming in early! My driver and I got airborne over a set of RR tracks, ended up in someone's front yard at about 11 PM.....that was my last ride in an Opel GT.
This may be the ugliest Opel GT I have ever seen. It does hurt to look at it.
Opel GT was my very first car. Good handling, but little power. Biggest mechanical issue was with the hide away headlights.
A year after a new paint job and a new engine was installed, a drunk driver in Houston took it out. Mine was the stock Orange with black interior. I think they always looked better with the lights retracted.
