Whre are they at? How severe? Only 2 chips? How many chips total. What color is the car? The reason I ask a lot of people here do the front bumper respray due to numerous chips which are common on the 993's.

Take it to a good body shop and have them touch it up. Check with your nearest Porsche dealer and see who they use for minor touch ups. If you drive the car at all, you'll get hundreds more in a short time. Don't try doing it yourself or you'll just end up with little bumps all over. Chris

There are other threads which give high praise to this product- haven't used it myself but I'm getting ready to...http://www.langka.com/the-blob-elimi...54557770d5ce83

I have used the Lanka product on my Black Cab. Very happy with the results.

Didn't work for me. Arctic Silver, it could also have been the the operator. I think a front respray is the way to go..

I've used the Langka system with great results on Iris Blue. My Silver Golf was not so successful and I can only put that down to the larger volume of "metallic" elements being cut away during the polishing phase. Well worth the effort, and leaving the paint longer than recommended only adds to the effort needed to remove the blister.

Just my $0.00002..

I've done both a respray and the Lanka product.. Obviously - nothing can compare to a full respray, but the Lanka paint/filler product worked just fine on my 993 and my previous '87 911.. For that - the colors were pretty easy to match, which would be my concern if I had a limited color??

Anyway - you can try the Lanka product and see how it works.. If it does - then you are ahead of the game. If it doesn't work out for you - well - you are back to a respray anyway..

Best to you,

John

Interesting. I've used Lanka on my 993 and the paint didn't match at all. Since I was using factory touch up paint, I blamed the Lanka. Maybe it was the paint or the operator.

I don't use the plastic card Lanka sent with the package. I use piece of cloth cut from an old sheet, stretched over my finger. I put a bit of the solvent on the tip of my finger and knock down the excess touch-up paint. I keep rubbing until the finish feels smooth.

There is some basic chip repair tips here put together by a RL member: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-forum/244537-repairing-small-stone-chips.html

I personally do this:
1. Bifocals (I am getting old?)
2. get modelling brush or other really small paint brush
3. Basecoat paint if chip is into the color, otherwise see step 4
4. After color has dried, fill remainder of chip with clear, slightly above finish surface
5. use crazy glue to glue a small piece of 1500-2000 grit wet/dry paper to the eraser
6. carefully sand raised clearcoat
7. Use medium cut polish to remove scratches
8 Use fine cut polish
9. polish until you are happy
10. polish more, then your choise of was, glaze, etc.

I used factory touch up and Langka and it worked great. Like night and day. I really wish I took pics.
It's not a respray, but looks great. I was going to do a respray, but saved the cash and did some other mods instead.

I used this procedure and diluted the color with laquer thinner. It take multiple coats over about two weeks for each layer to dry properly. I don't have any experience with Lanka.

Stone Chips: try drcolorchip.com. It works if you follow directions and take your time. Worked on some ships on my Guards Red 993. You have to be careful on how you blend the paint. Pete

have this lil tid-bit to add...

http://www.guidetodetailing.com/arti...p?articleId=27

this was my old practice & most chips were hard (if not impossible) to tell i had done any touch ups... my car is black & non-metalic imho, one of the easier matches.

just got the lanka product & will try this after the next funrun
