Some yahoo in a high end neighborhood in Newport Beach, probably named Ned, motioned for me to slow down -- funny thing was I wasnt going more than 15mph in 1st gear while I was looking for an address. I figured the car, with its very low first gear, must have sounded as though I was speeding.. I just returned the dirty look regretting not backing up and explaining a few things.

In my neighborhood, I drive extra slow as its a pretty narrow and small housing tract. Its the freaking morons in the SUV's that speed. Some in excess of 50mph. IDIOTS! (in my best Napolean Dynamite voice)

When I am confronted by some neighborhood jackass about the car I stop and meet the moran head on. I have a kid so I am careful in neighborhoods. Besides most of these clowns brive econo boxes and do not like cars. I just point out that I was not speeding and offer my cell to call the police. They back down.

I always wave to the motor officers in my little town and I think it helps with them not hassling me. There is one guy, whose partner is a Greman Shepard, who is a total fuktard. He will see me going the opposite way on the street and flip a U and follow me until I leave the city or arrive at my destination. I call him my shadow. It does not help that I am younger than this guy and that this town has a very very low crime rate.

It's always the idiots in SUV's, I was passed by some yahoo in an SUV on the highway and I was at a "spirited" speed. If that yahoo had avoid something in his lane, a branch or whatever. He would have lost it. What good is it to drive like that, way beyond the design of the truck...

And, I'm always in second gear when leaving the neighbourhood for the fact that they are so many kids. It's another story on the main roads.

A no fault to get pulled over, is the baseball cap and a hooded sweater, At Night.
They seem to have their primitive pavlov signals innate.
Cousin in Tx. allergic to A/C drives a Turbo S windows open even with highs around 100degrees. Gets pulled over practically every other day.

One guy at work said in front of everybody that I must be so deep in debt...
I photocopied my title, brought it in one day and held it up to him,
"Look, this is a car ownership title, you probably haven't seen one before,
but you get to keep one when you pay off your car."

Wee gem passed on to me by my motorcycle course instructor. Reckons he got pulled over all the time for "looking like you were going pretty fast".
He used to explain to the cop why a motorcycle looks like it is going faster than a car, even though it is actually doing the same speed.
According to his research, the human eye assesses speed based on the time it takes an object to cover the distance of it's own length. Therefore smaller objects appear to be moving faster than larger objects (ever wondered why a 747 seems to be flying so slowly compared to smaller aircraft?)
Maybe our 993s look like they are going faster coz they are so much smaller than the usual SUVs people drive around in.........or maybe people and cops are just jealous!

I dont even pay attention to people. Profile me all you want. At the end of the day, Im probably no different then the people making comments or assumptions.

I guess Im just as guilty when I see a mini van at 3 blocks aways and can probably bank on a woman driving it or a couple with 2 kids in the back. Ok, 3-5 kids because its Utah. As I get closer and I see a man driving it I think: "You poor son of a bitch. How's the pink house with white picket fence? Better hurry home, wifes got dinner on the table at 545pm sharp and dont want the milk to get cold in the back seat. Bet you wish you were my car" :-)

Not intended to offend any mini van owners-just an example.

It doesnt matter what car you drive, people will profile you and make assumptions.

I drive a Land Rover Defender 110 (full offroad prep with winch, roofrack with lightsm rock sliders and diff protectors, great big knobbly tires and a lot happening unseen to the naked eye) and a 993 with an RS wing, my wife drives a Pathfinder that a sometimes use. Boy do I get profiled...

I've been given the slow-down hand motion only once. The funny thing is, when the guy - and older gentleman - realized that I wasn't really going that fast, he stopped motioning and turned away so as not to look me in the eye as I passed.

I keep it nice and slow on residential streets.

There is ONE 993 daily driver representin' in a midnight cab on my commute every day up the 110 Harbor Freeway into downtown LA. Poor guy has gotten keyed along both fenders on the passenger side. Apparently he, too has gotten "profiled" as a "rich 'Porsh' (SIC) driving a-hole."

Death to the haters! For the cost of your Lexus you could have your own!
