Bill's words capture exactly what my neighbor was saying about his car being more fun to drive, or in other words, the engine appears to be closer to its "sweet spot" (Let's say 5,000 RPM when the Varioram cuts in) most of the time.
Don't expect to blow away all other 993 cars with your new gear set...I have done some field work on that issue. With nearly identically prepared 993 cars, my neighbor and I, and somewhat comparable driver skills, the advantage of his trick gear box around the track are noticeable, but not dramatic...example, he does not pull me out of every corner and he can't blow me off on a straight. We are still neck and neck, everywhere.
If you have the resources to make the investment, it will have a fun payoff, for certain. Keep the economy moving...spend that cash!!!
