DME Re-Flash or "What the heck is it"
Ok, I have been having a hard time getting my 1997 TT to pass emissions. It is running way to rich.
Tried several things then had to take to the dealer.
They found that it has an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator in it. It was set to 6psi. They adjusted it back to stock.
Then they tested the O2 sensors and one in particular indicated it was dead. Problem solved right? Nope. They put in another one and it did the same thing. They eventually discovered that the DME has been reprogramed to ignore the O2 sensors and ignition timer.
Any way to tell WHO's software is on the DME and or Flash it back to stock?
We re creating a air leak to pass emissions for now but need to figure out this DME issue.
Any thoughts?

Tim:
Most tuners leave their "calling card" on the DME. Usually, you find something on the cover, on the bottom, or on the chip itself (inside).
Time to do some digging around,...
Now,..only the outfit that flashed it may have the original file to flash it back to stock. Hopefully, you can find that and contact them to see if they still have it.
